Today was a tremendous day for the students of Panorama School and the families of Southern Hills as a newly renovated field was dedicated as the Aaron Rowand Junior Giants Field. Here are some fun pics. Enjoy :) :!!

DALY CITY — The San Francisco Giants may be struggling with their own offense this season, but they know how to hit a home run when it comes to community outreach. On Friday, the Giants will dedicate a newly renovated field at Panorama Elementary School, renaming it the Aaron Rowand Junior Giants Field. The field has been revamped with a new backstop, dugouts, an irrigation system and fresh sod. It will be used by the Junior Giants, a noncompetitive baseball league that’s offered free to at-risk youth. The Junior Giants season begins in late June. Rowand, the Giants’ center fielder, will participate in the ceremony, as will Giants President Larry Baer, former managing general partner Peter Magowan and announcer Renel Brooks-Moon, according to publicist Hilary Laurie. The field is the second in Daly City that the Giants Community Fund and the Good Tidings Foundation have built or renovated. In 2004, the team built the Bobby Bonds Memorial Field at John F. Kennedy Elementary School. The team has also contributed to fields in Redwood City, East Palo Alto and San Francisco, among other cities. Some 15,000 youngsters participate in Junior Giants.
